La Paz House has been very busy during the
winter weather. The more kids that
Dana and I have everyday, the crazier it can be. January has been very trying. Many of our kids struggle with controlling themselves,
following the rules, and understanding where they fit in. This is fairly normal in our urban
environment. Many are not the best
students and have many challenges at home. We have had many conversations this month about getting
along with each other. We had to
suspend a handful of them from coming to La Paz House. Though we hate doing this, it involves
talking with the parents and helping them work through their challenges. We pray for these families and hope our
efforts to help, direct, forgive, and love these kids and families will make
our community better and draw them to involve God and His love in their lives. Unfortunately, this takes time, a lot
of time.
This past month, Dana and I celebrated our
34th anniversary. It is
crazy that over 30 of these years, we
have been working with youth. Our
youngest son Jesse is getting married next week, so please say a prayer for him
and his fiancée Janae.
We are blessed to be able to keep plugging
away to love our neighbors and invent ways to make our community better and
share God’s love. Thank you for
all that you do to pray and support our ministry. We appreciate you all!
We need bikes!
One of the things we need are
bicycles. I am planning a bicycle
event for late spring and need donated bicycles of all kinds. Would you conside hosting a bike drive at your church or business to
collect donated bikes? If you have spare bikes in your garage or if you think
your church or group would like to host a Bicycle Drive, please let me know!
