June Newsletter

June started out with shutting down La Paz House for the summer and converting it into a dorm. Just yesterday, the first Youthworks teams arrived here in KCK.  They have come from Minnesota, Texas, and South Dakota.  They will be working on houses, serving at local ministries and service organizations, and working with the La Paz Kids Club Summer Program.  With 55 Youthworks kids and about that many on the first day of the summer program, we are overrun with youth!  Of course, at home the doorbell rings often for me to fix a bike or skateboard and for the kids to get a cold glass of water (the water at our house is better than the water at their house.)  One teen brought his bike to get it fixed last week.  He had a flat tire and had tried to fix it himself.  He brought me the pieces.  I fixed it for him and asked him where the axle nuts were.  He told me that it never had any.  Well, I thought it was kinda funny.

We are also having a weekly discussion on immigration that Dana is leading, a weekly youth worship night, and Dana is doing a book club and garden club with some of the La Paz Kids.  Summers are busy, but a lot of fun here in our Neighborhood!

At home, we are trying to get some of the projects that we never seem to get done.  I was able to get the ceiling taped, mudded and painted in our bedroom which has been in bare sheetrock since we moved in.  Who knows, we may get the whole room done by Christmas!  Joyanna is taking summer classes and looking for an apartment downtown.

Thank you for all that you do for our ministry.  Your prayer and financial support are an huge encouragement to us!  We are so grateful to be able to minister here in our community.

Also, we are now set up for our donors to give online.  You can do an individual gift or set up recurring gifts.  If you want to use this tool,  click the "Donate Now" button in the right column of my blog.
