Happy New Year from the Trotters!

January 2015

You might think that when the temperature gets close to zero, that kids would stay home and not be out riding their bikes to La Paz House. Everyday I am amazed by their ability to brave the cold to be here. Whether it is because they are bored or that it is warm inside or that they can be with their friends or that there is free internet, they are there everyday. I suppose it could be they are coming just to hang out with me.
Dana and I had a Christmas party for the kids on the last day before their Christmas break. We had small gift bags for the kids, some crafts, and of course Christmas cookies to decorate. On of the youth’s mom came and hung out with us that day. He is a 14 year old who has only been around for a couple of months now. He and his mom moved here after his older brother was murdered in Florida. Dana got a chance to talk with her and invite her to church. Dana was able to hear her story and minister to her and talk about helping her. We got back from the holidays hoping to help her. After 2 days, I asked another youth where Hunter was. He said, “Oh, he moved yesterday.” We were dissapointed that we could not help them more, but are thankful for the love we were able to share.

A new year always means it is time to start planning for the year; a time to figure out how to influence more people. Pray for us as we shake the bushes the next few months to get some events planned and get some direction and momentum going for spring and summer.
We were blessed with a great Christmas break. We assembled most of the Trotters in Florida for Christmas and a surprise birthday for my dad’s 90th birthday. It was a great time to celebrate together. I hadn’t seen one of my brothers for almost 12 years. Now we are excited and getting ready for our youngest son, Jesse, to get married this February.
Thank you for your faithful prayer and support of our ministry to our neighborhood. We are hoping and praying God will use us to spread the Good News in 2015.

One of the things we need are bicycles. I want to have a bicycle event as well as get more bikes for our La Paz bike shop. I hope to have some bike drives at some area churches to collect donated bikes. If you have spare bikes in your garage or if you think your church or group would like to host a Bicycle Drive, plese let me know!
